4, 6, or 8-ply: How to Choose the Perfect Weight for Your Socks?
In the ZEKE catalog, you’ll see the terms 4-ply, 6-ply, and 8-ply. This refers to the number of threads twisted together to make the yarn. The ply count determines the thickness of the sock and the type of footwear it will fit into.
-
4-ply: The all-time classic. Thin yet warm socks that fit perfectly into everyday shoes or sneakers. Recommended needles: 2.0 – 2.5 mm.
-
6-ply: The cozy middle ground. Ideal for thicker lounge socks or for boots with a bit of extra room. Recommended needles: 3.0 – 3.5 mm.
-
8-ply: The ultimate warmth. These are thick "house socks" for maximum comfort during cold winters. Recommended needles: 4.0 – 4.5 mm. They knit up incredibly fast!
